November 2010 NLC launch new apprenticeship frameworks for 2010/11 New apprenticeship frameworks will be available from NLC commencing in December 2010 providing the opportunity for young people to enter the world of work while studying for an Apprenticeship at level; 2 or Advanced Apprenticeships at level 3. NLC Apprentices are placed with organizations as a full time employee in a job role that will allow them to gain the skills knowledge and experience necessary to achieve nationally recognized qualifications in their chosen career. NLC’s unique delivery methods and “Award Winning” learning resources ensure that most of the training, development and assessment is carried out in the workplace or though distance learning, making it very relevant to the Job role and avoiding the need for Classroom Sessions. Apprenticeship opportunities include Business Administration, Health and Social Care, Warehousing and Logistics, Customer Service, Retail, and Team leading. October 2010 96% success rate for NLC across all provisions in the academic year ending July 2010 The official results are out, and nearly 1000 learners successfully completed their programme of learning and achieving nationally recognized qualifications with the help of the NLC professional training team, unique delivery methods and “Award Winning” learning resources. A great deal of credit go’s to our candidates for the hard work and dedication and their employers for providing the essential co-operation and support in achieving theses unprecedented success rates which are well above the national average. Qualifications were achieved at levels 2 3 and 4 and included Health and Social Care, Plant Operations, General Construction Operations, Business Administration, Business Improvement Techniques, Manufacturing Operations, IAG, Team Leading and Management. February 2010 A series of management development workshops offered by NLC to help managers improve their skills and performance, will soon form part of a nationally recognised award in Management development . The one day workshops , which include “Time Management “, “Leadership and Motivating Others” and “Addressing Problems Affecting Performance” , are followed by support and assessment of the practical application of ideas and skills in the workplace. find out more
February 2010 Collecting evidence for NVQ’s using audio visual recording has not only improved quality and efficiency , but also reduced the overall time taken for successful completion and achievement. The amount of written work required by candidates is reduced which is particularly beneficial where assessing practical manual skills. Trials of 140 candidates have now been successfully completed in the Construction sector where the technique has received widespread acclaim from candidates, employers and the awarding body. 98% successful completions were achieved in an average time of 12 weeks. Consideration is now being given to extending the technique for use in other sectors

Mar 2009 A record number of employer enquiries for Business Improvement Techniques were received in January and February and our employer engagement team are busy progressing over 50 contracts with potential for 2000 – 3000 candidates. Head of learner recruitment for NLC, Tim conning said “Employers are looking for ways to reduce costs, improve efficiency and increase profits and the NLC BIT programme provides immediate results and long term sustainability”.
Feb 2009 The latest External Verification visit from the Awarding body for Health and Social Care, maintains the previous clean bill of health with no action points for the highly professional delivery team of the NLC Care Sector.
Feb 2009 The NLC Employer Engagement Team report record levels of new starts in January and February with new learner inductions running well ahead of profile across all sectors.
Feb 28th 2009 The NLC Contracts Team report continued high performance at the end of February with the retention rate on new contracts running at 95% and eventual success rates expected to be well over 80%. |
