General Questions

Can I get funding for a 2nd Level 2 qualification? Funding is available through the governments Train to Gain programme subject to meeting eligibility criteria. Ask for further details

Can I get funding for a level 3 qualification? Level 3 is normally co-funded by the government and the employer or candidate. NLC offer fully funded Level 3 when taken together with a Skills for Life and Work qualification.

What training is involved? Your skills and knowledge are continually assessed throughout the programme and any gaps remedied by training from your assessor self study using Award Winning learning Resources. The amount of training involved will vary depending on the candidate’s current skills and knowledge. The average training element is 20 hours which is delivered by a combination of group sessions individual training and self study using Award Winning learning Resources.

Are all NVQ’s delivered in the same way? Most NVQ’s like Health and Social Care are usually  delivered through individual  training and assessment sessions supported by self study using Award Winning Learning Resources, Some NVQ’s like BIT and PMO are delivered using a combination of group training workshops and individual assessment.

Candidate Questions

Do I have to be employed to take an NVQ? Providing you are engaged in activities that allow us to assess your skills and knowledge for the particular qualification there is no requirement to be employed. However you will need to be employed to obtain funding under the governments Train to Gain programme.

How long will it take to achieve my qualification?  With full co-operation from the candidate and employer, NVQ level 2 can normally be delivered in 4 months using our unique delivery methods, professional assessment team and Award Winning Learning Resources.  NVQ level 3 can normally be delivered in 6 months.

Do I have to take a full NVQ? Funding has recently become available to fund units of selected NVQ’s allowing candidates to choose just the units they need? Ask for further details

Do I have to take an examination? NVQ’s are achieved by demonstrating your occupational skills and knowledge to a qualified assessor. There is no formal examination to achieve the NVQ qualification

Employer Questions

Originally developed in manufacturing operations BIT is now successfully implemented within all types of public and private organisation

Will it disrupt my business? NLC’s unique methods are aimed at delivering NVQ’s with minimum disruption to the working environment. However to successfully deliver NVQ,s full cooperation is required from the employer to provide access candidates and encourage them to achieve their qualification.

Will it cost me anything? Most NVQ’s are either fully funded or part funded. Ask for further details

Can I get funding for all my staff?  Most staff that do not already have a level 2 or level 3 qualification will qualify for funding. However the eligibility criteria are complicated and constantly changing. Specific and current information relating to your company can be provided by an NLC learner recruitment officer.

What about shift workers? Our professional delivery team will provide a flexible delivery programme to accommodate shift patterns and part time staff.

What about part-time staff? Employees with a contract of employment working more than 15 hours per week can qualify for NVQ funding
